Jibneh Like Never Before

Jibneh is a traditional Syrian cheese. This regional Middle Eastern cheese is made from cow’s milk curd that is cured in salt and cooked with a unique spice called mahleb. Mahleb is derived from seeds of cherry pits native to the Middle East. This combination creates a cheese that is slightly salty, with a mild center and the mahleb leaves a nutty, floral finish on your palate.

Kasbo’s is dedicated to bringing the soul of our heritage to your table with time-honored products that ensure the most authentic Middle Eastern flavors.

Mahleb is a traditional Middle Eastern spice used throughout the Levantine region for cheesemaking and in baking recipes. Mahleb seeds are harvested from the pit of St. Lucie cherry trees. The seeds are ground into a fine powder and release flavor notes of slightly sweet almond, cherry and chamomile. Our traditional Jibneh, Syrian Cheese recipe celebrates mahleb.

The St. Lucie cherry trees are native only to the Middle East. We work with our partners in Lebanon to share with you the most authentic products that honor our Middle Eastern traditions.
